The first and arguably the best album was produced by Dave Mackay and recorded at Dave's studio in Woldingham in Surrey during the summer of 1981. The group had just signed to Magnet records which was run by a certain Michael Levy (later Lord Levy). The album has the Dave Mackay stamp on it and he was anxious to give the group a credible recording identity rather than just cashing in on their TV and live cabaret presence. Hence songs like Lost In Hollywood and Walking On Air and Dave's revamp of a David Bowie hit that the group regularly performed, Life On Mars.
The second album was made specifically for the Italian market following the success of You Don't Have To Say You Love Me which became a top ten hit there. It was produced by Keith Strachan at Wessex Studios in Highbury, London and is a mixture of recordings of their live performances and a few Italian classics with English lyrics. The album wasn't released in the UK but some of the songs were used on the next album released in the UK, European Affair.
This was the second album released in the UK and Europe and uses some of the tracks from the Italian album plus some original songs by the members of the group - Soft Target by James Graeme, European Affair & Madison Square by Peter Olsen and Susies Bar by Colin Copperfield. Also the Perry Como classic was given an acapella vocal treatment by James Graeme. This too was produced by Keith Strachan at Wessex Studios, Highbury for Magnet Records
This is a compilation album comprised of tracks from WALL STREET CRASH and EUROPEAN AFFAIR. HoweverYou Don't Have To Say You Love Me features Mary on lead vocals rather than Jean. (This was recorded after Jean had left the group for use in television appearances. It was never intended for release but Mary does a fine job)
